Stephen B. Siegel is the Chairman of CBRE Global Brokerage and known as one of the biggest deal makers within the inner circle of New York City commercial real estate. He’s had a storied career as President of Cushman & Wakefield, President of Edward S. Gordon and Insignia ESG, and guided CBRE to being the largest commercial brokerage company in the world. He’s negotiated some of the most significant deals in the city of New York, and has been awarded a list of awards, honorariums and accolades that would make any parent proud. His integrity and effectiveness continues to astound many of his colleagues who aspire to emulate his incredible career.

At this Forum, Steve will share some insights of how the city office market has evolved during his life in the Big Apple, and how he participated in its evolution. This is the preeminent office market in the world, and Steve Siegel is one of the reasons for its success. The rhythm of the market’s ups and downs is the operative question of real estate investors in this town, and understanding its beat is the key to predicting where the market is going.

It is a common axiom that the three keys of real estate investing are LOCATION, LOCATION, and LOCATION; but Steve will posit that it’s TIMING, TIMING, and TIMING. A great location at a certain point in time may no longer be great at another point in time. Steve has seen it all from the perch of the people who are making the deals happen. Real estate value is a function of the revenue it produces, and the “top line” issue on that account is the rental rate. The man with his finger on that number is Steve Siegel. He’s been the fly on the wall in the major negotiation board rooms for a long time and will be a treasure to listen to over a cup of coffee on December 9th.
